Seachtaine na Gaeilge Event

IT Sligo International Office and Yeats Library have organised an Irish Langauge and Culture event for Seachtaine na Gaeilge. A talk will be given on the items on display in the Special Collections Exhibtion Space in the Social Zone followed by a lesson on some simple Irish phrases. After, enjoy some live traditional Irish music. Tea/coffee and sandwiches provided.

Quick Reads

Quick Reads are books published each year in conjunction with World Book Day (7th March, 2013) to promote reading for everyone.

This year, six new short stories by famous authors have been added to the collection.

These are now available to borrow from the library - see the Quick Reads stand beside the library information desk for the new titles.

4th Year ECCE Project for World Book Day 2013

World Book Day (7th March) was designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and is marked in over 100 countries around the globe. The aim is to encourage people of all ages to read, in particular children.

The library has a display of some wonderful story books for young children created and designed as part of a 4th year project by students from the Early Childhood Care in Education course (who are pictutered with their lecturer Kate Duke and Ursula Cox from the library)

These books are currently on display at the library information desk.

Book a library study room

The library has 13 seminar rooms available for group work/study.

The Info Zone and Quiet Zone have four rooms on each floor while there are five downstairs in the Social Zone. Several of the rooms have flat screens and room 4 on the Info Zone has an interactive white board (VGA cables for the tv screens can be borrowed at the information desk if needed).

All of the rooms can be booked via the Library Homepage.

The maximum time a room can be booked is for two hours. For more details see Library Room Booking

Women in architecture and architecture as art

The latest issue of Architects Journal (AJ) is a special issue focusing on women in architecture, simply titled The Women Issue. It features articles on topics such as communal housing and the controversial glass ceiling pay gap. Also, essays by current female architects including Phylis Lambert and Yasmin Shariff as well as discussing the results of the reccent Women in Architecture Survey and an interview with RIBA Gold Medallist Swiss Architect Peter Zumthor who claims 'that there are still some people who believe in architecture as art' (p.14, AJ, v.237, no.5, 2013)

Dietary Supplements

Are dietary supplements any good for you?  If so, how much and how often should you take them?

explores the use and sometimes misuse of dietary supplements and the effects on our health.

Restricted Opening Hours Wed 16th January

The Library will have restricted opening hours on Wednesday 16th January-

 opening in the afternoon from 2pm-5pm only. 

It will be closed Wednesday morning and evening to facilitate training.

Normal term time opening hours will resume on Thursday 17th January.

Welcome back into a new term and a new year.
The Yeats Library has resumed normal term time opening hours from today, Thursday 3rd January.
So it will be open late tonight until 9pm,  9am-5pm tomorrow Friday and 10am-2pm on Saturday.

The regular late openings of 9am-9pm Mon-Thurs, begin on Monday 7th January.
