Student ID Cards for New Online Learners

Welcome to all the new online learners!
Induction is to take place tomorrow Friday 11th September starting in the Knocknarea Arena at 8.45am.

Student ID Cards will be available to collect from 10.00am in Rooms 4 & 5 of the Library Social Learning Zone, lower ground floor (turn right after main reception, entrance doors are on the right past the stairs).

For those of you not attending induction on campus tomorrow.details on how to get your student ID card posted out to you are available here.

Photo Exhibition -Scenes from 19th Century Sligo

Yeats Library, IT Sligo invites you to step back in time and see the people, the streets and popular landmarks of Sligo as it was nearly 150 years ago.

A photographic exhibition from the National Library of Ireland Digital Collections will be launched on Tuesday, 11th August at 5.15 pm in the Social Zone (lower ground floor) of the Yeats Library.

There will be brief introduction to the exhibition with teas/coffees provided. All are welcome.

Bloomsday

Today is Bloomsday.
For anyone up for a challenging summer read we have a copy of Ulysses available for borrowing in the fiction section of the Quiet Zone.
Alternatively, if you would like to learn more about the life and works of James Joyce there is plenty of material available both in online and print formats via the library Summon Search. 

Sligo 150 Years Ago

Market Cross

W.B. Yeats was born on 13^th June, 1865 in Dublin. He was an internationally renowned poet, author, playwright, senator and was the first Irish person to win a Nobel Prize for Literature in 1923. 

Sligo had a major influence on the Yeats family which was reflected in W.B.'s literary works and also in his brother Jack’s paintings.

The Yeats Library is currently hosting an exhibition of photographs of Sligo from the latter half of the 19^th century when the Yeats family would have visited the area regularly. The photographs were taken by William Lawrence and Robert French and are part of the National Library of Ireland Digital Collections.

The photographs are on display in the Social Zone (lower ground floor) of the Library. 

So why not step back in time and see the people, the streets and popular landmarks of the town as it was 150 years ago.

Term time opening hours will remain in place until June 17th:

Monday-Friday 9.00-21.00

Saturday 10.00-14.00

From June 17th out of term opening hours will apply:

Monday-Friday 9.00-17.00

Prince of Wales Visit

IT Sligo welcomed the Prince of Wales earlier today.

He spoke with students and staff as he visited exhibitions by the Science and Architecture Departments.

The library opening hours will remain as normal until Friday 29th May after which they will change to out of term times: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.
