Accessing journal articles and databases

The library has access to thousands of articles via several database subscriptions.
When searching for an article you can search via the Summon search box on the library homepage or if you want to search a specific database e.g. Science Direct, click on the Database tab on the library homepage and scroll down the list of databases for the one you require.
For more information on databases go to Databases Electronic Resources.

To acccess any of the library's online resources including e-journals,
e-books and databases, you will be asked to log in using your IT Sligo student number and your library password. Please read the Library Password Help guide for details on setting up your library password.

Copies of print articles available in the library, may be requested if not available online. The requested article will be posted to you on receipt of a completed Copyright Declaration Form.  Contact Geraldine Fahey for more details or Library Support.

Interlending and Document Supply

On occasion, a book or journal article you require will not available from the stock of the Yeats Library.
However, it can be requested from another library for you through our interlending and document supply service.

CUA Borrowing books from CUA and Athlone IT Libraries

The libraries of the Connaught Ulster Alliance and Athlone Institute of Technology have set up the following reciprocal borrowing agreement.

Staff and students from IT Sligo may visit the libraries of the following institutions and borrow two items for one week from their normal borrowing collections:
  • Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT)
  • Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT)
  • Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT)
If you wish to visit and borrow books from these libraries please complete the online form

You will be contacted by email when your borrowing service has been set up in the host library.

Exam Time

Extended opening during exam time:


Yeats Library will be open until 7.00 pm on Friday 16th and Friday 23rd May 
and will open from 9.00 am - 2.00 pm on Saturday 17th and Saturday 24th May.
