Happy Halloween!

Oiche na Samhna, the 1st of November is traditionally when we remember the deceased and is also known as All Hallows. The 31st October is All Hallows Eve or more commonly known as Halloween which is associated with all that is ghostly and ghoulish. The vampire character of Dracula features prominently at this time of year. His creator Bram Stoker was from Dublin but his mother Charlotte Matilda Blake Thornley Stoker was from Sligo. An Taoiseach visits IT Sligo

An Taoiseach Enda Kenny was in the Yeats Library on Monday as part of his visit to IT Sligo. During his visit to the Library he spoke with students and staff about recent achievements and ongoing research within the Institute. This included an online chat from the Infozone with open and distance learning students living abroad.  He also visited the Special Collections Exhibiton in the Social Zone of first edtion books by W.B Yeats and Cuala Press titles.
